Meet Brian Heder: The Old-School Smuggler of the Keys in GTA 6

Brian Heder is the man Jason Duval works for at the start of GTA 6. Rockstar Games introduced him with Trailer 2 and its character page in May 2025, and he is one of the first faces the trailer shows. This guide covers who he is according to Rockstar, what he means for Jason, where in Leonida he belongs, and what is still unknown before the game launches on November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Who Brian is according to Rockstar

Rockstar's character page says Brian looks like a Leonida beach bum but moves like a great white shark. He is a classic drug runner from the golden age of smuggling in the Keys. He still moves product through his boat yard, together with his third wife, Lori, and he has been in the business long enough to let other people do his dirty work.

Rockstar's screenshots fit that description: Brian behind the wheel, Brian with a beer, Brian angry about a package, and Brian handing over a gun. He is an older man who has seen the trade change and is still in it.

Brian and Jason

The deal between them is spelled out on Rockstar's page. Brian lets Jason live rent-free at one of his properties, as long as Jason helps with local shakedowns and stops by for Lori's sangria once in a while. Jason's own page says he works for local drug runners in the Keys, and Brian is the one Rockstar has named.

That makes Brian Jason's landlord and his boss at the same time, which is a lot of power for one man to hold over him. Jason's friend Cal Hampton also takes work from Brian. Our guide to Jason Duval covers Jason's side, and the one on Lucia Caminos covers the partner who comes into his life.

Where Brian belongs in Leonida

Brian is a Keys character through and through. His history, his boat yard and the house Jason lives in all sit there, according to Rockstar. The islands, bridges and beaches of that part of the map are covered in our Leonida Keys guide.

What Rockstar has not shown is where on the islands the boat yard is, or which of his properties Jason lives in. Both will matter to anyone looking for him on a map, and neither is confirmed yet.

Who plays Brian

In September 2026, actor Stephen Root told the Associated Press that he voices Brian in GTA 6. Root is known for King of the Hill, Office Space and Barry, and fans had guessed it was him from his voice in Trailer 2.

This is the actor's own statement on the record, not a leak, but Rockstar itself has not announced any of its cast. Root is, so far, the only GTA 6 actor to confirm his part in public.

Leaks and community findings

What we do not know yet

Rockstar has not said how big Brian's role in the story is, whether he stays on Jason's side, or how he connects to the easy score that goes wrong and pulls Jason and Lucia into a conspiracy across Leonida. It has also not said anything more about Lori than her name and her sangria.

Rockstar has not released an official map, so the location of Brian's boat yard is not known. Our map uses the fan-made reconstruction by the GTA VI Community Mapping Project, and any location on it is the community's best reading, not a confirmed spot. This guide gets rewritten once the game is out on November 19, 2026.
