Privacy policy

This is a fan-made, non-commercial map of a video game world. It is run by enthusiasts, not by a company, and it is built to need as little about you as a site like this can get away with. Nothing here is sold, and nothing here is used to advertise at you.
What is stored, and why
Nothing at all, if you only look at the map. Browsing, panning, searching and opening a place needs no account and stores nothing about you on our side.
If you sign in with Discord, Discord hands us your profile, and we keep:
- your Discord account id, which is what recognises you when you come back;
- your display name and nickname, shown as the author of anything you add;
- your email address, used to join two sign-in methods into one account rather than to write to you;
- the address of your avatar image;
- your profile banner, accent colour, avatar decoration and server tag, when Discord provides them;
- the access token Discord issues, so the sign-in can be completed and refreshed.
If you choose Connect gaming accounts, we also ask Discord for your linked gaming account names and membership of our community server. These are shown only in your own account settings. This requires additional permission from you.
Crews are not publicly listed. Signed-in people with a crew invitation can view its name, description and member names. Joining adds your name to that list. You can leave a crew, and its owner can delete it and invalidate the invitation.
If you add a place to the map, we keep what you typed — its name, coordinate, description, address, tags, links and images — together with the account that added it. All of that is public: a map nobody can read is not a map.
The server keeps ordinary request logs for a short while: the address the request came from, what was asked for and when. They exist to keep the site standing and to deal with abuse, and they are not used to build a picture of you.
Cookies and what your browser keeps
There are no advertising cookies, no analytics and no third-party trackers on this site. The one exception you can opt into is the trailer described below.
- A session cookie and a matching security token are set once you sign in, and are what keep you signed in. They are strictly necessary; without them signing in cannot work.
- Your theme and which map layers you switched off are remembered in your own browser's local storage. They never leave your device and never reach the server, and you can clear them yourself from the cookie settings in the footer of the map.
- The trailer behind the release countdown is a YouTube video. It is embedded in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode and only loaded once you click the countdown to watch it. From that moment YouTube, part of Google, receives your IP address and information about your browser, and may store data in your browser while the video plays. If you never open the trailer, nothing is loaded from YouTube.
Who else sees anything
- Discord, when you choose to sign in with it. What they do with that is covered by their own privacy policy.
- The hosting provider that runs the servers this site is served from.
- Whoever hosts an image someone linked to a place. Those pictures are loaded from wherever they live, so opening a place that has one tells that host your browser asked for it. We send no referrer along with the request.
- YouTube, when you choose to watch the trailer. What they do with that is covered by Google's own privacy policy.
Beyond that, nothing is shared, sold or handed on.
How long it is kept
Your account and its profile are kept for as long as the account exists. Places you added are part of the map and stay on it, though they can be detached from your account on request. Logs are kept for a matter of weeks, not years.
What you can ask for
You can ask for a copy of what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for your account and profile to be deleted, or object to it being kept at all. If you are in the EU or the UK you also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. There is no mailing list to tell you about it, because there is no mailing list.
